TERMINAL 4 CHANGI AIRPORT

Within Singapore’s International Airport T4 was envisioned to be a “people’s terminal”. A transitional space and destination defined by contemporary design, playful interiors and garden-like experiences. The landscape responded, with vibrant contrasting naturalistic and informal character that supports Singapore’s renowned garden vision. The aspiration for busy interior spaces was, sky-lit natural light and corresponding glazed floor to ceiling outer facades, delivering a more open and friendly experience for travellers and visitors.

Alongside the vision of open interiors, generous lush green landscape spaces create places for gathering, interaction and relaxation. These deliver a beautiful, healthy and fresher green environment for both travellers and those visiting. For this exceptionally prominent project, the quality of stock, acclimatization of plants and their sustainability were critical to the success of the landscape. All trees and palms were nursery pre-grown for over two years. Then those to be installed indoors, were further prepared under graded shade regimes so that they would first adapt to the terminal’s interior environments at their anticipated light levels.
