Most of the entire global population live in cities. As cities are the ‘new’ human habitat, they should be designed for improved physical and environmental quality. Heritage, cultural and artistic aspects should be preserved and expressed too! That’s another part of our social dimension, promoted here within our competition proposal for Singapore’s civic precinct.
Comprising the Old Parliament, Law Court, Asian Civilizations Museum, St Andrews Cathedral, the Padang and the Singapore River, the precinct and it’s surrounding streets needed a fresh approach to encourage visitors, pedestrian access, circulation and public use of the wonderful area. We emphasized “place making” with living streets of expanded side walks, pop-up nodes and timed traffic management to create an entire walkable public realm.
